The end-less squares and what became of them

(This post is especially for Natalie, a dear friend who has one of those unfortunate 'falls between Christmas and New Year' birthdays; hope you had a wonderful day!)

~~~~~~~~~
Here's a wee selection of the now end-less 12inch squares...
I had to edge them to give them a bit of coherence, so I did a round of single crochet (UK double crochet) in a dark purple, and then joined them together using sc.
It took hardly any time at all to join the 16 squares together and work a simple border (1 round sc, 1 round reverse sc), but it entailed more end darning!
Here's my finished blanket:
Now, I know you're thinking 'but she made 32, where are the others?'
Ha! I used 2 colour schemes and I haven't made the other 16 up yet. I want to edge them with a darkish brown but there just isn't any on the market right now. So these guys are currently languishing in my room!
Here's a few of them:
Winter dream
Bold squares
I'm afraid you will have to wait for the finished blanket to appear, and I'm sad to say  it won't be nearly as stunning as the first.
Besides, I'm not in that much of a rush to get it done, cos guess what?
I HAVEN'T DONE THE ENDS ON THESE ONES!
OMG Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Seriously, crochet squares are one of my most favourite things in the entire universe. Mum gave the kids a blanket each made from 'granny' squares at Christmas and told them every square was a hug from her. Adam calls his his 'hug blanket'. Awwwwwwwwww. Well done you, these are truly lovely. xxxx
